It was so worth it. That’s all I can say about it. 1250 miles in 48 hours. 4 hrs. of sleep in the last 24. And who knows how much $$. But the images I’ll keep. . .floating in my mind ‘til a remembrance is triggered and sweet nostalgia creeps in like a faint whisper of lush garden air. What other words can be used to describe waking in the Rocky Mountains with 2 inches of snow covering your tent? Stirring. That is the word I choose. Brushing aside the tent flap to look on a forest blanketed by swirling snow stirs the heart. Closing your mouth and hearing silence (can you really hear silence?) relaxes the lungs into exhalation. Listening to Graham hum beach tunes in the middle of a snowy forest draws a laugh unasked for. Being in a new place surrounded by things you do not know boils excitement in your veins. And Red Rocks. Red Rocks, Colorado. How to paint it? I do not think I am capable. This is what I wrote before the show started and we were seated in the amphitheatre soaking it in:

“What is there to say about Red Rocks? Red Rocks is Colorado picturesque beauty. Made more beautiful by its purposeful existence. Nature’s beauty coupled together with the awe inspiring art of music.”

You see, the sky is clear and the stars shimmer. You are surrounded by thousands of your dearest, closest friends. The Denver skyline is just above the stage and glimmers sweetly when the sun sets. You hear Coldplay softly crooning under gentle lights and you realize that you are really there. God’s majesty is pronounced so loudly you can only catch a little at a time. Music, earth, sky, wind, light in the darkness. You only hope you never forget. You hope you are somewhat like the dad seated one row in front of you. Bringing your son and wife to events of this type when life wants to suck you into its monotony. I believe every now and then, you have to pay a price for moments such as these. In those times, you simply move forward and hope it’s worth it in the end….It was this time.
