Confessions of a Newmusicaholic
The search never stops. A new note strikes a chord with the goodness of your music receptors and the quest begins. Who was that? Where are they from? Are they new? Do they have alot of stuff out? Are they independent or have they been signed? Are they touring anywhere close soon? Bombarded by these thoughts, the research phase begins. Countless hours spent scouring the lovely I.V. of information we affectionately refer to as the internet. Followed by the pondering of lyrics, the sampling of songs and finally the interrogation of choice friends whose musical opinion you have grown to appreciate.
The next determination that must be made is one of purchase. Is this group worthy of you hard-earned cash? Would you rather listen to their tunes or eat a lavish meal at Wendy's? This is always the hardest part of the process. There are simply many ways to procure music in the technologically advanced world we live in. There are too many factors influencing this decision for me to possibly hit on them all now. (that and the fact that i have to get back to work soon)
In recognition of my problem, I feel I must confess to the extent of the issue at hand. I will estimate that I have come to possess around 100 new albums in the last 5 months. Let us not speak on how this many albums came into my ever reaching grasp. Let us just sit back and think on how much time this must have consumed and also consider how well one could really digest that much new music. It only works in this specific case because of the amount of time spent driving for leisure purposes. All things considered, I have to stand up and admit: I am a Newmusicaholic and I need help. Yes, I need help, I need all your good music for 1-2 weeks. Trust me, this is the way to deal with my problem. You'll get your CD's back in one piece and maybe even a gift CD in return.
In fact, on further review, I don't think I really have a problem. I could stop anytime I want to. I just need to find a couple more groups and like, 10 more albums and it will all be gravy. You know you want to.
Now may the God of patience and comfort grant you to be like-minded toward one another, according to Christ Jesus,
Romans 15:5
But if we look forward to something we don't have yet, we must wait patiently and confidently.
Romans 8:25
