you know. you go places and you don't even think about what it will be like. i know i do. expectations just seem to get in the way sometimes.
if you asked me what we did in cincinatti, i would have to tell you not much. if you asked me if it was good, or if i had fun, i would have to tell you yes. what did we do? we checked out bookstores, cd stores, old churches, parks, views, music, downtown city life, weird movies, and sat around. sounds great right? it was.
you have to love those people whom you don't see for months at a time, maybe you don't even talk to them for weeks and then you go and see them and it's like you've been hanging out every day. that is what cincinatti was. from the airport (which was in kentucky), we drove to norwood (where the residence is) and stopped at a park to check out the river that divides the two states. Eden park offers a great view of the city if you stop to look.
what next. Old st. georges. what's that? i still couldn't tell you. you ring the bell at this old church/monastery and this guy in pajama pants and Jesus hair opens the door and asks you what you need. we want to check out the books if that's alright. sure he says. what are you looking for he starts. eventually he tells you he is going to write a book since he is a senior that tells the incoming freshman at school "X" what is good and what isn't. he is going to bind it himself and graffitti the covers. selling them around campus, he hopes to leave his mark.
plans for a tour of texas half-price are hatched while browsing ohio's finest. live music. yeah we did that. kim taylor, eisley, snow patrol. check. the loft, not used books but one of the coolest bookstores you'll ever see - 32 rooms what? you want to see some cool stained glass at an old church? sure. Cool, we live next to one. let me grab my keys and we'll check it out. what are these rooms? i ask. oh, some artists use them for their works. my response? should've been ???????>>>>>><<........ i'm sure i filled the air with something banal though.
ultimate frisbee anyone? yes, I'll have some of that. 9am, sunday morning at the park. be there. anyone need some refreshing hot tea after that game? that's cool, i'm from texas where we love ice.
dinner? we do that family style here. how was your day? how was your day? good, thanks for asking. what book are we all going to read. the imitation of christ? community based thought? what do you guys think? wow.
