dayone: drive into austin around 3:30p. meet up with seth and jib. jib leaves. leave by myself to get a haircut. find a barbershop across guadalupe from the campus. proceed to watch the beginning of what a girl wants on their television while the barber cleans up my neck with a straight razor. decide to one day soon pay for a straight razor shave. leave the barbershop and meet back up with ryan and seth. watch the simpsons and seinfeld. go to chango's for a bite to eat. see michael james (bassist for EITS) come in and grab an order to go. consider saying hello, but decide against it as i cannot remember his name at the time and am somewhat embarassed to say "hey, aren't you the bass guy for that band?" we leave chango's and head to half-price. i can't locate either of the books i'm looking for but do find an american analog split with white magic, damien jurado: ghost of david, and sigur ros: ágætis byrjun. ryan finds a copy of fiona apple and a book he finds interesting. seth proceeds to drop and break a record on the floor. he offers to pay for it, but they refuse and instead ask him to push a cart over to its rightful place. come back home and watch the fifth episode of star wars along with some family guy from the box set.
daytwo: wake up at 11:00a. watch an episode of family guy still in the dvd player from dayone. shave the beard and shower. go out to the car to grab an extra dress shirt since the one i ironed the day before was left hanging on a door knob at the henry household. iron the shirt using the johnson's borrowed iron which jib so graciously remembered to bring in with him from dayone. as our hosts do not have an ironing board, ironing was done on seth's futon mattress. this worked better than i had hoped. once ready, leave the apt. at 1:10p slightly behind schedule for interview with the FD. arrive at destination at 1:35p, making better time than anticipated. interview is set for 2p. get the call up at 2:50p. introductions all around. finish interview at 3:15. wait some more while deliberations are being had. taken into another room to receive scores from the past two rounds of testing. unimpressive. told that interviews will continue through july and that the next portion of testing is scheduled for august - good luck on making it. you'll know sometime in july. head back to the apt. phone san marcos to inquire on standing with them. we won't be able to report anything to you until we actually have an opening available. hopefully by october they say. great. stop at freebirds for a bit of the burrito. seth, ryan, and i watch a few episodes of scrubs. seth and ryan retreat to seth's makeshift sound lab. jason types on his blog.
