I just got finished reading Hey Nostradamus! by Douglas Coupland on the recommendation of a girl I work with at B&N. It was very good. The way people talked in it reminded me alot of The Catcher in the Rye and Franny and Zooey. People being brutally honest with how things in the world make them feel and then dealing with those things. Not pulling punches and trying to deceive themselves by telling themselves that things are ok, and that they don't matter when really, they do, alot. And sometimes things happen and you can't just sit there and tell yourself that it will be ok, because right then, in that moment, crazy possibilities are opened up and that makes everything bigger, or smaller. It depends on how you look at it. What perspective you take. If you can even see things from more than one angle. Or even determine that more than one angle is a good thing. I don't know if taking many perspectives is good or not. They just seem to confuse things alot more than offering any real clarity.
But I guess we all try our own different ways. Sometimes they work, and sometimes they just work. It is usually a pretty messy deal, and things change as a result. Geez, I don't know if I am even talking about the book anymore or am using it's style and story to jump into myself. I think I am going to stop now and leave this up just to see what anyone who feels like commenting thinks.
Behold, I tell you a mystery;
we shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed.
in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet;
for the trumpet will sound, and the dead will be raised imperishable,
and we shall be changed.
1 Corinthians 15:51-52 (this is how the book starts, FYI)
