well, i did end up sleeping in the airport in san francisco and i did end up getting on the six am flight to houston. and that is where the complications began. they had cancelled an early morning flight in houston and all the people from that flight were being rolled over from flight to flight pushing me further and further down the list. basically, i was never going to get to austin by flying with my original airline. after checking on other possible flights and eliminating them from contention due to the fact that i would miss bowling night, i ended up renting a car and driving from houston to austin myself. my sister and brother-in-law offered to drive me but i didn't want them to have to drive back to houston after bringing me here, thanks guys. my bag got to fly to austin without me, only because the six am flight didn't have enough overhead space for my carry-on, so i had to pop into the airport and pick up my bag when i got here. surprisingly easy, it was sitting next the baggage claim carousel waiting to be checked in. very nice surprise. so to bring this rambling drama to a close, i left marin county by bus around 10pm on sunday night and stepped foot into my apartment in austin around 6pm on monday night. a bit longer than i had hoped, particularly less fun because of the poor four hours of sleep i had on sunday night sleeping on a bench in the san francisco airport last night, but all in all, well worth the hassle. i'd do it again no problem.
no problem.
