Two and a half months of silence isn't really that long, is it?
I've learned that making travel plans dependent on whether it is going to be cloudy or not is no fun. I'm heading to Denton this afternoon for a weekend of fun and frivolity, but it's been raining all week here and I may have to get some work done depending on whether or not it is cloudy or not. I feel like some third cousin to the groundhog right now. Aye, third cousin to the groundhog.
I don't spend too much time clicking away on the old computer lately. Probably because I'm always on the computer for work. If I could surgically attach it to the front of my torso so that all I had to do is fold down the screen and type away, I probably wouldn't feel much different than I already do. The thing is like a little puppy following me around all the time, but this puppy's name is "work." Alas. A lass.
I saw Mono play last night. Pretty amazing. I like to pretend I've never heard of bands like that when I am about to see them so that the show is more of a surprise. There was a moment in there that I nearly jumped out of my skin. I can usually sense when a band is about to jump back in hard and heavy, but I must admit, I jumped up and grabbed the ceiling in my mind once or twice in the night.
I let a firebug in the house the other night. It was nice. It actually followed me into my room. I didn't notice it was there until I turned off the lights for the night. I was laying there trying to relax and shut off my brain and this little periodic green glow was lazily floating around my room. It made me smile. Sadly, there was not a repeat performance the next night. Maybe I'll try to catch a bunch of these guys in a jar and let them loose one at a time when I'm trying to sleep. My own herd of magical sheep putting me to sleep. Yeah, you're right, too much work and kind of gross in a way. I mean, I don't want to find a bunch of dead bugs over the coming weeks - that would totally ruin the moment, kind of like this thought.
Well, I'm off to pack and mosey my way up 35 for St. Vincent and John Vanderslice.
I'll see you again in a couple of months.
