May 10, 2007

so i've been infested by the financial teachings of this guy, dave ramsey. it happened slowly and i've been surprised by how much of it i've bought into. it started slowly and now it seems to be gaining momentum as i am starting to sell things i really like. but in the end, all will be worth it. it has really been re-focusing my life on want vs. need.

i sold my xbox 360 last week and have seen a drastic improvement in how i spend my free time. that 360 was a frustrating succubus if i'm being totally honest with myself and you. next up on the list to go....my tv. i bought it around superbowl weekend and it is a lovely television but it commits me to watching it because of the investment i made in it. that will all change this weekend when i deliver it to its' new owners.

after that, my entertainment center will probably find a new home and then most of my movies and a pretty good amount of books will find their way off of my shelves. i'm trying to strengthen my resolve to sell the books. but really, i hadn't read in over 4 months which means i wasn't making much headway in finishing all 600 or so of them.

the best thing about this money stuff is that i'm eating at home more than i have in four years. that alone is worth the changes that are being made.

alright, i know, not a particularly interesting post, but writing all of this out may help me down the road if i begin to falter.

have a wonderful day. maybe i'll speak with you again next week.
